CELEBRATE PRS EXHIBITION: SCULPTURE OF THE PACIFIC RIM

Ring in the holiday season at the Commonwealth Club's Bay Lights Social kick-off on Friday, December 10th from 4:30-7:30 PM. Experience four floors of art happenings, live music, and more.

The event celebrates the official opening of All That Glitters, an exhibition of works by Philip Hua, and the current PRS exhibit, Sculpture of the Pacific Rim, curated by Robert Melton.

Other event highlights include an improv dance performance by New Ballet San Jose, special video art projections by Steve P, and live music.

Entrance fee includes one complimentary drink and lite bites. Special complimentary treats by Hot Cookies.

KARL HAUSER

Karl Hauser has works in the exhibition Souls of Forgotten Objects, exploring the interface between trash and treasure. In addition to artworks juried by Geoffrey Gorman, the event also includes workshops and demonstrations that bring found or forgotten objects together to create something beautiful.  Whether that is an old tree branch, bike tire, cardboard, colorful material, metal or paper, the exhibit welcomes artists to submit 2D or 3D work that takes these found or lost materials and turns them into art, curious, evocative, dynamic or meditative. SAC has invited artists to think outside the box, canvas or convention in submitting pieces for this spectacular exhibit. The exhibition is at Sedona Arts Center, Sedona, AZ and continues through 12/23/2021. KATHLEEN KING


Kathleen King has works in Mercury 20 @ 15 at Mercury 20 Gallery in Oakland, CA. The exhibition celebrates the 15th year of the artist-run gallery. The show will include the work of past and current members including PRS members Jann Nunn, Mary Curtis Ratcliff, Ruth Tabancay and Kathleen KingThe exhibition was curated by Christine Meuris and Jessica CadkinThe exhibition opens December 3, 2021 and continues through February 5, 2022. See mercurytwenty.com

B Stevens Strauss has works in the 2021 Berkeley-Sakai Art Exchange Exhibition in the Irohani Gallery, Sakai, Japan. The exhibition features artwork from several Bay area artists and is sponsored by the Sakai Berkeley Sister City association. The exhibition was curated by Junichi Hotta and continues through 12/08/2021.

Connect:  Invite your sculptor colleagues to join and get one month free membership for each new member you recruit (cannot previously have been a member). Just ask the new member to mention your name while filling out the "How did you hear about us?" blank in the application form.

Donate:  PRS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization; for tax reporting: EIN # 81-0919806.

Submit newsletter items: A call for news items goes out the 15th of each month. 

Volunteer:  Participate in the Board of Directors (email info@PacificRimSculptors.org); help organize events (email Events@PacificRimSculptors.org); help mount exhibitions (email Exhibitions@PacificRimSculptors.org); help write for the newsletter (email Newsletter@PacificRimSculptors.org); help improve the website (email website@PacificRimSculptors.org); 

Communicate:  Send messages to our group email  list (pacificrimsculptors@googlegroups.com ). Before they are posted, messages will be screened by a moderator to prevent spam and ensure appropriate use. The moderator may suggest editing changes or suggest alternate distribution (e.g., newsletter, or message from our Administrator). 

Facebook:  Sign up for the PRS Facebook page by visiting this link and clicking on the "Join Group" button. A PRS moderator will authorize your request, usually within 1-2 workdays. Then start posting!
