Looking Ahead to 2026 Dear PRS Volunteers, As we begin 2026, I want to thank you for the time, care, and energy you give to Pacific Rim Sculptors. Our Board of Directors is focused this year on strengthening governance, transparency, and programming; all best practices for a healthy nonprofit arts organization, and the vital role of volunteerism in making this work possible. Board Updates: I would like to extend sincere thanks to Jan Blythe as she steps down from the board, and to welcome Anita Wigglesworth as an Advisory Board Member. Anita is the Vice President for Programs and Marketing at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa. I’m also pleased to share that Dave Kwinter has been appointed Secretary, with deep appreciation to Briona Hendren for her service in that role. A big thank you to the continuing board members: Vice President Susan Amorde, Treasurer Cameron Callahan, Secretary Dave Kwinter, Operations Manager Briona Hendren, Barry Beach, Sena Clara Creston, Marguerite Elliot, Charlie Gadeken, and Catherine Merrill. Financial Transparency: With Cameron Callahan at the helm, we’re continuing to strengthen our financial stewardship by improving reporting access through QuickBooks and carefully reviewing expenses—an important part of maintaining trust and accountability. Exhibition Opportunities: Our exhibitions team, Chair Dave Kwinter, Vice Chair Susan Amorde, and Santa Cruz representative Lynne Todaro ensured the current exhibition, “Connected “ at MK Gallery in Santa Cruz, was realized. The team has exciting future exhibitions and projects underway for 2027: an exhibition at NY2CA Gallery (Benicia), “Question of Balance 2” at the Lancaster Museum of Art, and early planning for a 2028 outdoor exhibition with the Sonoma Botanical Garden. We’re also exploring future collaborations with the Luther Burbank Center for the Art and Sonoma State University. Events and programming: In 2026, volunteers are underway scheduling out museum outings, Second Sunday studio visits, professional development webinars, as well as expanding offerings to our Southern California membership and arts community. Membership: Two PRS board members are creating something new for the younger demographic of current and prospective members: Operations Manger, Briona Hendren, is currently expanding our a student member program with offerings that include free memberships for students at accredited institutions, and Marguerite Elliot is developing mentorship opportunities to better cultivate the growth of individuals arts practice and business. Our next board meeting is March 10, 2026. I warmly invite you to stay involved, share ideas, and continue shaping the future of Pacific Rim Sculptors alongside us. Lynn Dau, "Transitional Wear-Day To Night" Pacific Rim Sculptors presents Connected, an exhibition exploring the many meanings of connection through sculpture. Artists were encouraged to examine how we relate to one another, to technology, to nature, and to the environments we inhabit. From physical and emotional bonds to digital and ecological networks, Connected invited sculptors to reflect on what it means to be linked in today’s world. MEMBER NEWSZaHaVa SherezSurface Tension brings together nine contemporary artists to explore how meaning emerges through layers of material, memory, and language. Working across sculpture, photography, painting, and mixed media, the artists share a fluency in text and subtext, reflection and form, and emotional nuance. Through immersive storytelling, the work dissolves boundaries between viewer, subject, and landscape, inviting us to read between the lines and sense the tension beneath the surface. Barry Beach, ‘Hollow Topography,’ Reclaimed cardboard and wood, Barry's work is also on view at The Drawing Room in the exhibition Sanctuary, now through March 8th. This was a locals-only open call exploring the meaning of sanctuary in the San Francisco Bay Area. Historically a refuge for many marginalized communities, the concept of sanctuary has been challenged and fractured in our current political climate. Curated by Courtney Norris and Renee DeCarlo, the exhibition invites artists to define and create sanctuary in all its forms - spatial, spiritual, and political. Barry Beach’s work reflects on the historical use of mountainous terrain as places of refuge, engaging viewers in a meditation on landscape and shelter.
