Midnight March by Masako Miki transforms the gallery into a glowing procession of life-sized felted sculptures exploring myth, resistance, and empathy. David Antonio Cruz’s stay, take your time, my love presents vibrant, surreal portraits that center queer chosen families and collective care. In the spotlight installation, Tau Lewis repurposes discarded materials into textured, textile-based sculptures that reflect on memory and transformation. J LivingstonIn addition to his outdoor piece gnomon for Gina in the courtyard, J. Livingston’s new acrylic sculpture seated venus is on display inside the O’Hanlon Gallery as part of the group exhibition Dreams & Visions. The show runs July 8 through August 14, 2025, at the O’Hanlon Center for the Arts, 616 Throckmorton Avenue, Mill Valley, California. J. Jeff KeyJeff Key’s sculpture Vessel #92—Scherzo is featured in Abstraction Now, the 11th Annual GearBox Gallery Juried Group Exhibition Juried by: Auriel Garza, SFMOMA Curatorial Assistant of painting and sculpture. This work is part of his ongoing 100 Vessels—Theories of Evolution series, a 30-plus-year exploration of abstract forms that evoke the vessel as a cross-cultural symbol of human presence and life cycles. Constructed primarily from wood and flax, the series uses only natural, non-toxic materials for environmental and health considerations. Teddy Milder & Lori Goodman in memoriam is a powerful collaborative installation by Teddy Milder and Lori Goodman. Over the past year and a half, the artists created 110 small sculptures from handmade pigmented and dyed abaca and kozo paper, wood dowels, reed, thread, and fiber. Each form stands as a meditation on collective grief—bearing witness to atrocities past and present, and honoring the weight of loss through quiet material gestures. Kline Swonger exhibited an installation in Material World, a group show curated by Chuck Thomas and Jason Clay Lewis at TECHNE Art Center in Oceanside, California.
The exhibition featured artists whose work centered on material as inspiration, referencing myth and universal human themes such as guilt, despair, quiet reflection, and regeneration. Swonger’s contribution engaged these ideas through form and material process.

Priyanka RanaPriyanka Rana’s sculpture practice began later in life, finding in wood a collaborative partner that reveals both personal and material stories. Borrowing its title from Terry Tempest Williams’ When Women Were Birds, this exhibition explores hidden narratives beneath the surface. Rana’s work spans several series addressing memory, nostalgia, healing, and our connection to the natural world. Bridging her Indian heritage with the multicultural Bay Area, she looks to trees as symbols of interdependence—reminding us that isolation is an illusion and that we are connected through unseen networks. Jenny RosenJenny Rosen is showing work from her House Cards series in two juried exhibitions this summer. At the Bedford Gallery’s Beyond Color: The Language of Black and White, Rosen explores form and structure through a limited palette, highlighting the conceptual clarity of her series. The exhibition runs July 12 through September 14 at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. She is also featured in Slice: A Juried Exhibit of Regional Art at the Pence Gallery in Davis, on view from July 11 through August 17. Now in its 13th year, Slice showcases the diversity of artistic expression across Northern California with work from 36 visual artists.
