Pacific Rim Sculptors invites members to submit work for our upcoming exhibition Not Heavy, an exploration of lightness in every sense of the word. We seek submissions of sculpture that either does not weigh much (plastic?) or art that is light-hearted in subject matter.
Physically, Not Heavy may refer to works that are literally lightweight: airy constructions, suspended forms, delicate materials, or pieces that create the illusion of lightness despite their scale. Conceptually, the theme invites a break from the solemn or burdensome, instead embracing work that is playful, warm, whimsical, uplifting, or even humorous. We welcome pieces that spark joy, offer levity, or playfully subvert expectations of sculpture as “serious” or “monumental.”
From feather-light mobiles to buoyant narratives, from witty visual puns to gentle tactile experiences, this show will celebrate sculpture that uplifts the spirit or defies gravity in form or feeling.
Artists may submit up to 4 artworks through CaFÉ. Please note, submission does not guarantee acceptance to the exhibition.
Accepted art may be shipped by arrangement with the gallery.
Applications are due on October 5th, 2025 by 11:59pm.
